For Patients

Aastrom’s mission is to help people with severe, chronic cardiovascular diseases realize the promise of a patient-specific, expanded multicellular therapy called ixmyelocel-T. By starting with the patient’s own bone marrow, which is accepted by the patient’s immune system, we believe we can eliminate both the risk of rejection and that of having to use immunosuppressive therapy pre- or post-therapy. We are currently conducting clinical trials for two diseases: critical limb ischemia (CLI) and dilated cardiomyopahy (DCM).
Critical Limb Ischemia: Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is a severe type of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) that results from markedly reduced blood flow to the hands, legs and feet. Aastrom is conducting two trials for critical limb ischemia, one in Phase 2 and one in Phase 3. The Phase 2 trial is completed and is the process of data analysis; the Phase 3 trial is in development and will be enrolling soon. Learn more about CLI clinical trials.
Dilated Cardiomyopathy: Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is the most common form of heart failure. We are administering two clinical trials for dilated cardiomyopathy, both in Phase 2a. Both are active trials but are not currently enrolling patients. Learn more about DCM clinical trials.
